TODAY is the day!
If you've ever loved my writing, now's when I need you...
I have spent my entire life being the black sheep of the family...
And now? It's becoming a book!
My Kickstarter campaign for How to Disappoint Your Parents in 10 Shameless Steps: A Modern Asian-American Guide went live this morning!
You're a pivotal part of its success.
Kickstarter (like most modern business platforms) has an algorithm — if you can demonstrate that your project is viable within the first 24 hours, they may choose it as a "Project We Love."
If you go beyond that? They might email it to their huge list and community, which could be genuinely life-changing.
Here's where we stand right now:
You may know me as a:
Branding & Marketing Agency Owner
A Leadership Coach for Women of Color
A Divorced Mom
A Personal Branding Expert
A Podcast Host
A Published Author 2x over
Here's what you may not know:
What I have always wanted most in the world is for this book to come to life — it's been years in the making. And, as a genuinely introverted human, it would be a dream come true to reach my Kickstarter stretch goals, so that I could devote myself for several months to making this happen.
I need your help.
If you've ever benefitted from my newsletter, a social post, a conversation, a coaching session, or even a smile or hug, I could use your beautiful support now to bring this book to life.
Trust me when I tell you... it's not easy for me to be this vulnerable and ask you for help.
Because what if this doesn't work out?
How do I not take this personally?
What will it feel like if it all goes better than expected?
Do you have something you're going after?
Maybe you haven't yet acknowledged to yourself that it's even something you want.
Sometimes, the heart whispers.
Sometimes, it shouts.
Sometimes, it can't yet find the words.
I hope that by you seeing me go after something that truly feels like my life's calling, it'll inspire you...
To do it, too.
I'm not doing it alone...
I've directly texted 50+ people; am about to send 150 direct emails; have posted it in different Slack/WhatsApp/Facebook groups I'm part of; and that's just the start.
I've also invested deeply in this project.
With my designer.
With my assistant.
With my podcast editor and guests for Season 5 which just launched today!
This weekend, I was at a kid's birthday party and was able to talk to another creative who I deeply admire: Julie Goldstein-Tesi.
We're both moms.
We're both artists in our own ways.
And, we're both happy that we get to do both. That we have a soul calling as much as we were called to guide another spirit in this world.
It reminded me that you can indeed find kindred spirits, and when you do, celebrate and support one another, because doing your own thing in a world that encourages you to do it like everyone else is a tireless journey.
Thank you in advance for considering supporting me in any way: with a pledge, a share with your network, and energetically.
Any amount is so meaningful to me because you're saying, "Yes, I believe in you — you can do this."
Mahalo,
Judy
