What four days in Montana's wilderness taught me.
I turned 46 on Tuesday — and flew to Montana to spend it in Glacier National Park.
21 miles.
21 hours in the car.
3 hikes.
3 major lakes (plus the bonus hidden one).
2 hitchhike rides
1 where we asked.
1 where we offered.
1 set of hiking poles as a bday gift.
(And yes, it helped my knees + ankle!)
I was rockin’ ‘em like I was rebranding walking sticks!
1 speeding ticket.
(Them towns in between Glacier and Bozeman are tiny!)
“Luckily,” the officer said, “speeding tickets in Montana are pretty cheap.”
Thanks to the serendipity of who we met, we saw more of the park than we would’ve — and it was reciprocal. We offered our learnings, too.
But mostly, we paused in awe.
Wished our photos + videos could do Nature justice.
And laughed.
“Mr. Friendly” became my partner's trail name.
“Dusty Buns” became mine.
I did a lot of moving meditation.
Asking my Higher Self questions I’ve needed answers to.
And, now 46, I feel this sense of calm.
A lot of thoughts shifted throughout these miles.
Old stories of myself melted away.
Replaced by truths I’m excited to live into.
We loved Glacier National Park.
1,000,000 acres here.
1,150 miles home.
7 days ‘til I get my daughter back.
Life.
What will you do with your 24 hours today?
Sending you all the good vibes I soaked in from my time in Nature...
Judy
