The psychic medium was totally right

On Saturday, I talked to a psychic medium — her predictions continue to ring true.

If you've backed my Kickstarter, I shared different elements of this story on Update #4...

More has happened since then.

When my daughter was around eight months old, we were passing the time in our historic house on Kauai. I started going through cabinets to tidy the house and came across a small black radio device.

I had forgotten I had it — it's known as a "Chanting Machine" that plays the prayer, Namo Amitabha, on an endless loop. I got it from a Buddhist temple in Los Angeles and, because it reminded me of my deceased grandmother, I took it with me wherever I moved in the world.

The second I found it, Wilder grabbed it.

She held onto it all day. Whether it was on or off, she didn't care. She just wanted it. By the time I put her in her high chair for dinner, my then-husband had come home. I put food on her tray and tried to take the radio away from her, which she didn't want to let go of.

Then, suddenly, she clasped her hands together, precisely the way my grandmother did throughout my entire life with her, when she prayed.

Loosely. Fingers clasped.

Bai bai. (The Mandarin word for prayer.)

I looked up at my husband, who knew about my connection with my grandmother, and gasped.

"Do you think Wilder knows my grandmother?" I asked, amazed.

"I think Wilder may be your grandmother," he responded.

Fast forward almost eight years later...

"Your grandmother says you have three folders on your desk," Stephanie, the psychic medium told me this weekend. "There's a black one, a pretty white beige, and a rose mauve color.

These are the exact colors of the three folders I have on my desk that contain everything I'm working on right now...

My grandmother gave me feedback about what's inside each one, even describing the physical attributes of one of my current business partners.

She got incredibly specific with the medium, telling me she thought page 38 and the bottom paragraph on 39 were hilarious.

In my book proposal on pages 38-39, this is where I write about walking in on my parents having sex.

(It's part of the sample chapter I share with backers of my campaign.)

She's making me laugh, but she's like, she's like, she's just, she's covering what it is. I can't read it, but she keeps pointing to these like something very funny. She thought that was like perfect.

I distinctly remember my grandmother being in the house when it happened, because after waking up from a bad dream, my choice was to either find her or go to my parents' room — I chose the latter.

She just held her hands to her chest and like her whole heart radiated this love. She's very proud of that book and it was funny. She said you're not the only one whose parents had expectations of them.

And then, my grandmother talked about the gifts bestowed upon me and my daughter.

My grandmother said that because her children, including my mother who she viewed as her own, didn't use their gifts, they're being passed on to me and my daughter.

You have clients, right? That's where you help people? Very proud of that. She's very proud of your abilities.

Well, she said your daughter is gifted... so she's gonna come to you in the next few days and explain a dream about your grandmother she had.

It's been a few days.

In bed last night, dozing off, my daughter turned to me.

"Mom?"

"Yeah, babe?"

"I think your grandma is here."

"What, babe?"

"I think your grandma's spirit is here. She said she's proud of you. She really likes that you're empowering other women."

Then, she turned around and went to bed.

Unprompted.

My daughter knows that I do marketing — but I don't know how much she knows about the coaching I do with women founders of color. I also hadn't mentioned anything about my experience with the medium or brought up my family in any way recently.

I lay next to her for a while. I wasn't surprised this happened.

Instead, I tried to let in the love.

As we got towards the end of our call, the medium described the huge tree in my parents' house, a tree my grandmother still loves to be around. She told me about the sliding glass doors that open to my father's room and said that my grandmother is often there watching them. She stands behind my father who doesn't want to acknowledge anything about death or what's beyond this reality, trying to shake things up because they need to get out of their routine.

She also shared precisely about the relationships in my life, past and present — she even gave me tips about the future.

Finally, my grandmother was ready to go.

My recording stopped on its own and I couldn't get it to work again. The medium told me my grandmother was done, and she was off to make the sweet buns she was famous for growing up.

I feel like she had, she was a really good cook, but she had a specific type of baking, something she baked, like a sweet, something sweet... yeah, she is making those. She's like, making them for all the dead ones.

I haven't closed the transcript of this conversation. It's an open tab on my laptop.

As I continue to grow my business and my life, I find it reassuring she's still here with me.

Watching me.

Cheering me on.

And that my daughter can see her, too.

I always thought they would have loved getting to know each other... but maybe they already do.

If you need to be reminded that there are forces both seen and unseen around you supporting you too, hopefully, this experience will do just that.

Love,

Judy
